Our History

Established in 1966, the Mar Thoma Mission Hospital in Chungathara stands as a testament to a long-standing commitment to compassionate healthcare. The hospital was founded to commemorate the Episcopal Silver Jubilee celebrations of two distinguished leaders: Dr. Juhanon Mar Thoma Metropolitan and Dr. Mathews Mar Athanasius Episcopa. For over 60 years, the institution has remained a cornerstone of the errand community, providing essential medical services to a region in need. Driven by a spirit of mission and service, the hospital continues to honour its founding legacy by ensuring that quality care remains accessible to the local population, bridging the gap between faith-based values and modern medical practice.
